NOISES in my head.

We are generation of Indian obsessed with noise. Hawkers ' cries, loud neighbours, blabbering colleagues, blaring television speakers, politicians on loudspeakers, forceful bhajan mandalis, baby cries, house bells. And now the omnipresent mobile ring tones that range from nokia signature tune to punjabi pop and gujarati sanedo. We are either deaf that we need everything to be so loud or we will go deaf.

Nowhere to go….

Life has once again brought me to a crossroad. Don’t know which way to go.

If I go straight, a bumpy ride leads me to this satellite city of Ahmedabad which before 10 years was a village known as Bopal. If I take a right, I reach the food and shopping capital of Ahmedabad. Rows after rows of eateries serving pure veg kebabs and syrupy mocktails (these are even worse than the synthetic rasna sharbat we used to have as kids in summer) and hip-hop teenagers swinging to bhangra-pop. Soni de nakhre sone lagde menu. OMG. This right turn would definitely be a wrong one to take.

I contemplate taking a left. Oh, multiplexes. They are playing Vane Chand No Varghodo. For the uninitiated it is a latest musical by Devang Patel. Yes the same singer credited with hits like "Boom boom boom boom, chadi banyan ghoom" and other unmentionable songs (the hindi remake of who let the dogs out, remember?).

If I take a u-turn and go back, I get to watch some TV, read some interesting book. This seems like the best option. So I go back home.

In life, whenever you are at a crossroads, close your eyes and pray to God (if you not an atheist ie.) that it is not Fun Republic Char Rasta in Amdavad. Or else, you definitely will have nowhere to go.

The Backwaters by Manju Kapur - a must read short story.

Yep, it's a scanned image and the resolution is not great. But the story is. If you have the time, read it.

Going by the number of terror attacks that have been happening, we will soon have replace the war memorial by a terror memorial.

An obituary to my getting a job at Mc Cann

I know I am reducing all my chances of getting into McCann by blogging about this. But what were Prasoon Joshi and Gerson da cunha doing on NDTV. Who wants to know about their association with the luxury hotel while the crisis is still going on.
Why can't we instead get experts to talk about national security, intelligence, politics, pakistan. What have advertising professionals got to do about this terror attack.
And if they were called in just as Mumbaikars then their opinion should be limited to just that topic.
With this post, i bid an audieu to my chances of ever getting a job at Mc Cann...
